T1 and T2 are not air-waybill types. They are Union / common transit movement documents under customs transit law. Attaching an 8130-3 does not close either of them.
This page is broker language for T1 vs T2 vs T2L, what a useful “example” actually is on an aviation movement, and why CARM is a different system.
TL;DR. T1 is the usual broker label for non-Union goods moving under customs control. T2 is internal transit for Union-status goods. T2L / T2LF prove Union status; they are not an open T1 movement. Confirm that mapping in the Transit Manual, not only on freight blogs. A useful example is the full packet (invoice, AWB, ARC, T1/TAD with MRN, ENS if applicable), not a Scribd template. FAA 8130-3 is not a delivery document. Doana can extract MRN / destination office. It does not lodge NCTS.
What is T1 vs T2 vs T2L?
T1 is the usual broker label for non-Union goods moving under customs control. T2 is internal transit for Union-status goods. T2L / T2LF prove Union status; they are not an open T1 movement. Confirm that mapping in the Transit Manual, not only on freight blogs.
Across Logistics (5 Jul 2023) is the explainer Google ranks; it is not UCC text (Across):
- T1, non-Union goods moving through the EU / common transit under customs control. Typical aviation: US-origin spare via an EU hub toward another third country, or between EU offices before import declaration.
- T2, Union goods moving under the transit procedure (already Union status).
- T2L / T2LF, status documents proving Union goods in free circulation, not the same as an open T1 movement.
Official transit hub: Commission customs transit. Confirm the Transit Manual date on the live page (a scrape of that hub noted 31 Jul 2026). French douane.gouv.fr transit fiches also rank; do not treat the site homepage as the fiche URL.
Operational themes on broker pages: authorisation, goods identification, prescribed route, electronic issue, close-out. An open transit that is never discharged leaves guarantee exposure.
Doana T1 glossary (vendor): match invoice, AWB, consignee, destination office; errors include vague descriptions, wrong destination office, missing MRN (Doana T1). Legal meaning of T1: T1 transit document meaning.
What counts as a T1 “example”?
A useful example is the full packet:
- Commercial invoice (P/N, S/N, value, origin).
- AWB / HAWB.
- EASA Form 1 or 8130-3 (identity, not the transit).
- T1/TAD with MRN and destination office matching the actual AOG reroute.
- ICS2 ENS/PLACI if the goods are to or through the EU (ICS2).
Scribd “T1 template” PDFs rank for t1 transit document example and do not teach aircraft-parts identity.
Generic “spare parts” descriptions are treated as obsolete on industry ICS2 pages; HS on AWB lines; do-not-load risk (Kuehne+Nagel ICS2; Aviation Pros 2023). NCTS-P6 derogation end 1 June 2026 appeared as a Commission knowledge-store fragment; confirm on the live ICS2/NCTS page before putting that date in an H1.
Packet table: AOG customs packet.
Is CARM another name for T1?
No. CARM is CBSA accounting from 21 Oct 2024 (CARM). Use it when the movement ends in a Canadian import, not as a synonym for T1.
FAA 8130-3 is not a delivery document (8130.21J), and attaching the tag does not close transit.

T1/T2 are transit movement documents. They are not air-waybills and not Form 1. A useful example is the packet around the MRN: T1 example. Legal meaning: T1 transit document meaning. Packet: AOG customs packet.
Doana can extract MRN / destination office from forwarded PDFs (Doana T1). It does not lodge NCTS.
