Multi-regime compliance

How Doana's built-in CARM, ICS2, CBAM, and UK CDS checks work.

Doana includes validation modules for the four customs regimes that most often hit aviation and international freight. Checks run during extraction, before any export.

CARM — Canada

Canada Border Services Agency Assessment and Revenue Management

CARM modernizes import declaration processing in Canada. Doana checks:

  • Presence and format of HS (SH) codes
  • Customs value and duty-calculation inputs
  • Importer identity and accredited broker
  • Alignment with the CARM Client Portal data set

CARM alerts show in red on the dashboard when a required field is missing or inconsistent.

ICS2 — European Union

Import Control System 2

ICS2 requires ENS (Entry Summary Declaration) data before goods arrive in the EU. Doana extracts and structures:

  • ENS parties and goods description
  • Article-level goods codes
  • Loading country and transport details
  • EORI numbers for the parties involved

For express and postal shipments, Doana alerts when ICS2 phase 3 data is incomplete.

CBAM — European Union

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism

CBAM applies to imports of carbon-intensive goods (steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, hydrogen). Doana extracts:

  • CN codes of covered products
  • Country of production
  • Embedded carbon when the document carries it
  • Fields needed for the quarterly CBAM report

UK CDS — United Kingdom

UK Customs Declaration Service

Since CHIEF closed, UK declarations go through CDS. Doana structures data for:

  • Import declarations (C88)
  • Export declarations
  • Simplified procedures
  • Suspensive regimes (IPR, CWP)

How alerts work

Each compliance gap raises an alert on the dashboard:

LevelMeaning
RedRequired field missing or invalid — export blocked
YellowUncertain value — review recommended
BlueExtra information available

Alerts are visible before export so you can correct the file before it reaches the broker.

Turning a module off

If an operation does not cover every regime, disable unused modules in Settings → Compliance. Only active modules raise alerts.
