AI Agents for Freight Forwarders: Aviation Documents

Cover Image for AI Agents for Freight Forwarders: Aviation Documents

A freight agent that can book and extract through the same permission will book against unverified Form 1 data from chat. Doana is the certificate extract, not the rate engine.

Keep the work on document preparation. Warp and CargoAi describe their own transport MCP products. Doana extracts EASA Form 1. Keep those capabilities on separate authorizations so a clean extract cannot book a flight.

Doana versus Warp or CargoAi

Warp publishes a freight MCP server for agent workflows. CargoAi documents an MCP connector for its logistics capabilities. Those pages are other providers’ freight MCP docs. Doana does not quote, book or track, and still only extracts EASA Form 1 for aviation packets.

Doana’s public MCP catalog covers EASA Form 1 extraction and supporting upload, result and usage tools. A freight agent may call more than one vendor. Give each connector its own permission. Certificate extraction must stay a document step, not a side effect of a booking tool.

What extract_easa_form1 returns

extract_easa_form1 does not return prices, allocate capacity, emit house AWBs, or track milestones. It does not file customs. If the agent’s user asks to “ship it,” that request must hit a different authorized system. The Form 1 result is identifiers, quantities, remarks and uncertainty for a human to place beside the shipment file.

Pass exactly one file source. ChatGPT uses the signed attachment. Other clients use content_base64 up to 64 KiB or create_mcp_upload. Local paths and arbitrary https URLs are not uploads. There is no public REST POST /extract beside MCP.

Attach a job to a shipment

In your application, write the extraction job_id onto the shipment record before presenting fields. Compare item identity and quantity with the commercial records you already store. If they differ, request review instead of overwriting either value. These correlations are application logic, not extra Doana MCP tools.

Poll the stored job_id while status is dispatch_pending, queued, running or outcome_unknown. Import only when status is succeeded, documentType is easa_form_1 and result is present. If documentType is unknown, keep the FAA or commercial file out of the EASA tool — that is usually a succeeded job with no Form 1. Dual-release packets need a human to choose which certificate is being extracted.

One-lane trial

Begin with a recurring source of Form 1 certificates. Track usable fields, corrections and where handoffs stall. Keep bookings and external customer messages on your existing authorization process. Five files per personal account per UTC week is enough to trial, not to flood a production lane.

Call get_usage at the start of the UTC week. If MCP_QUOTA_EXHAUSTED appears, stop extracting. Failed or out-of-scope jobs refund the unit. Do not treat a successful extract as permission to send a booking email to the airline.
